These terms apply to the DenKin app and services. Read them together with the Privacy Notice and Apple’s standard software license. Your mandatory consumer rights remain protected.
1. The agreement and how to reach us
These terms cover DenKin accounts and services, including pet records, discovery, adoption introductions, recovery tools, Kin Guide and Denward. The operator is Michael J St Martin, operating as DenKin (we, us). Contact us at denkinpets@gmail.com or DenKin, PO Box 387, Claremont, CA 91711, United States. This edition is identified by version denkin-2026-10-25-launch and applies from its release.
Please read these terms before using DenKin and stop using it if you do not agree. Additional purchase terms apply only when clearly presented before the relevant purchase. Our Privacy Notice explains personal information processing; agreement to these terms is not consent to every optional use of your information. If a mandatory law gives you stronger rights, that law takes priority.
2. Eligibility and account care
You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding agreement to create an account, publish a listing, contact another member or purchase through DenKin. Separate accounts for children and teens are not offered. An adult supervising play on their own account remains responsible for that account. An App Store content rating does not change account eligibility. You must have authority to act for any organization or pet you represent.
Provide accurate account information, protect sign-in credentials, and tell us promptly about suspected unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity you authorize or enable through a failure to take reasonable care, subject to applicable law. Do not transfer an account without our agreement or impersonate another person or organization.
3. What DenKin provides
DenKin supplies software for organizing information and, where enabled, finding and contacting independent people and organizations. We do not act as a veterinarian, animal shelter, adoption agency, insurer, emergency dispatcher, pet sitter or transporter. We do not take custody of pets or decide whether an adoption or service arrangement is suitable.
Feature availability depends on your app version, location, permissions and release status. A roadmap, locked chapter or preview does not promise a release date. Clearly labeled demo cards use fictional people or illustrative offers; they cannot be contacted, booked or redeemed. Sandbox purchases do not represent a real order.
4. Pet records and registration
You are responsible for the accuracy of details you enter and for checking extracted text, reminders and generated summaries against original documents. Keep independent copies of important records. Device-only data can be lost if the app or browser storage is removed; cloud storage applies only where the feature says it does.
A DenKin registration number identifies a DenKin record. It is not proof of legal ownership, a government license, a microchip registration, a veterinary certification or a guarantee of recovery. Keep your microchip provider and any required local registration up to date. A dispute about legal ownership must be resolved with the relevant people or authorities, not by possessing a DenKin identifier.
If a registration is sold as a one-time lifetime registration, no recurring registration renewal charge applies to that pet. Lifetime means that pet’s lifetime and does not include every future feature. We will not retroactively convert that paid entitlement into a renewal subscription. If a material paid benefit cannot be provided, applicable remedies remain available; contact us for a remedy appropriate to the unmet promise. Closing the service does not by itself erase those obligations.
5. Saved care instructions and selective sharing
You may save separate care instructions for a sitter, boarding provider, trainer, veterinary visit or other recipient. Known profile details can help start a draft, but you must confirm that those details and any selected record summaries are current and appropriate for the recipient. Saved instructions are reusable; they are not a standing authorization to share them with every provider.
Only the content you review and choose is included in a shared copy. Original documents, unselected records and future updates are not automatically attached. A copied or downloaded brief is a snapshot that cannot be withdrawn or updated on another person’s device. Check medicines, quantities, schedules, allergies and safety instructions against the authoritative record before every handoff; a generated summary is not a treatment plan.
6. Kin Card Apple Wallet and nearby sharing
The Kin Card is a convenient copy of selected pet identity information. Adding it to Apple Wallet does not register your pet or make it a government ID, proof of ownership, payment card or veterinary certificate. A card marked TEST is a sample and is not a registration. Private care instructions, contact details, microchip numbers and full records are not silently added to the identity pass.
Wallet passes, card images and copies sent through nearby sharing may remain on recipients’ devices. The current pass is static: editing or deleting a DenKin profile does not update or remotely revoke an existing copy. Share only what you intend the recipient to keep. Nearby sharing depends on compatible devices, operating-system settings and Apple’s controls; use another offered sharing method if unavailable. A QR code or share action is not evidence of a completed payment, booking or identity verification.
7. Pet health and recovery
Kin Guide, checklists, educational content and readiness scores provide general assistance, not diagnosis, treatment, veterinary advice or proof that an animal is safe. Contact a qualified veterinarian for medical concerns and appropriate local services for an immediate danger. Do not delay necessary care because of an app suggestion.
Recovery flyers, contact links and saved locations help you organize a response; they do not monitor a pet or guarantee a reunion. Check recipients and public details before sharing. Apple operates AirTag and Find My independently. DenKin does not receive a live AirTag location feed; saved Apple sharing links can expire and may expose Apple Account contact details to recipients.
A recovery plan can save an owner-selected area, a planning radius, recorded leads and contact activity. A radius is a search preference, not a promise that every result is inside it, that a shelter serves that location, or that all nearby facilities were checked. Public contact searches and public intake-listing searches have different scopes. Check the source, date, jurisdiction and identifying details; a possible match is not a verified sighting or confirmation that a shelter holds your pet.
You decide whether to send each email, place a call or publish a social post. Opening a mail composer or external app is not proof of sending, delivery, reading or a response. The current recovery tools do not make AI phone calls, read your inbox or private neighborhood groups, or continuously track a pet. Group access and a prepared post do not authorize scraping, automated posting or reuse of other members’ information.
When you enable daily recovery drafts, DenKin prepares a factual recap from recorded activity around the selected local time, initially 7 PM. Scheduling can be delayed or interrupted. This prepares an unsent draft; it is not an automatic email, a fresh search, a verification of owner-reported leads or a guarantee of complete activity. Marking the pet safely home closes the active episode and stops future drafts. Copies you have already sent remain with their recipients.
8. Discovery choices and introductions
Discovery may combine provider listings, third-party map results, opt-in pet listings, fictional demo cards and game items. A map result is directory information, not proof that a business joined DenKin, approved the card or passed our checks. Distances are approximate; an unrestricted-distance choice can include places far away.
Saving or swiping right expresses interest within the feature; it is not a booking, adoption application, payment, consent to contact you or promise of a match. Browsing adoptable pets for enjoyment does not state that you are ready to adopt. A connection, message or application requires its own clearly identified action.
Private pet profiles and adoption drafts are not published merely because you browse discovery. Publication and inclusion in the swipe feed require the listing owner’s separate choices. Listing owners must review the audience and visible fields before publishing and keep availability current. Turning discovery off hides a listing from that feed; withdrawing a listing removes it from active public browsing. Copies already shared by others cannot always be recalled.
A found-pet note is a report about a possible lost animal, not a claim of ownership or proof of a match. A found-pet note stays private to your device and does not publish to other members, place a public map pin, notify an owner or contact a registry. Any later shared report must clearly identify its audience and the information to be published before you approve it. Do not publish a private home address or full microchip number; seek appropriate local assistance before approaching an unfamiliar animal.
9. Adoption and responsible placement
Only publish a pet you own or are legally authorized to place. Give truthful information about species, age, known health and behavioral needs, restrictions and relevant adoption conditions. Do not include another person’s private records, home address or contact details without permission. Do not disguise sales or breeding promotion as adoption, misrepresent a rescue or use DenKin for prohibited animal trade, abuse or abandonment.
Adopters and listing owners decide independently whether to proceed. Check identity, authority, veterinary information, living arrangements and any applicable permits or transfer requirements. Use a separate written adoption agreement where appropriate. A DenKin inquiry does not transfer ownership or secure a pet, and we do not collect adoption deposits through a swipe.
Adoption fees, screening, visits, transport and the ultimate handover are the parties’ responsibility unless a specific feature expressly says otherwise. DenKin does not guarantee listing accuracy, temperament, health, availability or compatibility. This allocation does not excuse our own legal duties or misconduct.
10. Providers and pet meetups
Trainers, sitters, hotels, walkers and other providers act independently. Providers are responsible for accurate service descriptions, qualifications they claim, required licenses, insurance, taxes, prices and their own contracts. Do not imply DenKin endorsement or verification unless we expressly provide a defined verification badge.
Before a visit, service or playdate, discuss handling needs, vaccination or health concerns, supervision, boundaries and emergency arrangements. Meet safely, supervise animals and use appropriate restraints. DenKin does not conduct universal background checks or veterinary screening. Users remain responsible for evaluating the people and animals they choose to meet. Third-party service disputes ordinarily concern those parties; report platform abuse to us.
Provider invitations or promotions appearing on the game map are separate from earned game items. Check the named provider’s offer, expiry, location, availability and conditions before arranging a service. A map marker, saved offer or Denco illustration is not a cash balance, guaranteed discount, paid booking or endorsement. Fictional offers are labeled and cannot be redeemed. Paid placement or an affiliate relationship must be identified when present; these terms do not authorize an undisclosed advertisement.
11. Your content and sharing
You retain the rights you have in your photos, records, listings and messages. You grant us a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, copy, format, transmit and display that content only as reasonably needed to operate, secure and support the features you choose and comply with law. We may permit our service providers to do this work for us. This license does not authorize unrelated advertising use of your private records or sell ownership of your content.
You must have permission to upload and share content, including information about caregivers or other people. Public listing content may be seen and copied by its audience. Social sharing and care links use the audience and actions you choose; check them before sending. External recipients’ copies are governed by their own handling and cannot necessarily be deleted by DenKin.
The operating license ends when content is deleted from active use, except for copies reasonably retained for legal, security, backup or dispute purposes as explained in the Privacy Notice, and copies you previously authorized others to receive. We do not claim ownership of honest reviews or prohibit lawful criticism.
12. Kin Guide and automated assistance
Optional AI tools may use the text, image or context identified at the time you choose the tool. AI can misunderstand an image, invent details, omit information or produce similar answers for different users. Check outputs before relying on, publishing or sending them. You are not required to use AI to write a caption or keep pet records.
Generated ideas are drafts, not verified facts or professional advice. Do not enter secrets or another person’s sensitive information unless you have authority and the feature is suitable. We do not automatically publish a generated caption merely because you requested it. Processing by external AI providers is described in the Privacy Notice and applicable feature disclosure.
DenKin uses OpenAI for the optional requests described in the feature disclosure. Give permission before sending the reviewed text or photo; enabling one feature does not grant permission for unrelated use. Manual entry remains available. Voice capture produces editable text; it does not itself send a question, save a care instruction or authorize an external action. A suggestion that the guide knows your pet means it uses the permitted context available to that feature, not that it has verified every record or independently observed the animal.
13. Denward and virtual items
Denward is entertainment with fictional adventures, randomized outcomes, equipment, companions, crafting, fishing and progression. Game currency, dice, materials and equipment are licensed digital features; they are not money, securities, ownership interests, prizes redeemable for cash or rights to a physical product. Do not sell accounts or virtual items outside an authorized feature.
We may adjust balance, rewards and game rules for fairness, security or development. We will describe a material change affecting a purchased entitlement and preserve applicable remedies. Progress may be reset only when the app clearly warns you first. A game shop using earned currency is not a real-money checkout. A physical product offer must be identified separately before purchase.
No paid random-item purchase is authorized by these terms alone. Any future paid random-item mechanic requires its own lawful purchase flow and the disclosures required in the relevant territory and storefront. Do not use exploits or automated farming that bypasses intended limits or harms other players.
Registration-linked game bonuses, when available, are specified virtual benefits rather than a purchase of random loot. Equipment sets, collars, artifacts, fishing materials and companions affect fictional play only; they do not certify real pet health, provide insurance or promise provider benefits. Resetting your adventure through its confirmation flow clears the selected game progress, not your pet’s registration. Check the reset explanation before continuing.
14. Prices purchases and refunds
Any real charge must be shown with the product, currency, price, applicable taxes, seller and payment terms before you confirm. Optional products and services are separate from pet registration. We will not charge you because you saved a card, requested a caption or swiped on an item. Subscription features, if offered, must disclose renewal price, period and cancellation steps before enrollment.
DenKin Business is an optional auto-renewing subscription for businesses at $49.99 per month (or the local price shown in the App Store). New subscribers may get a free trial, shown before you subscribe. Payment is charged to your Apple ID when the trial ends, and the plan renews monthly unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Manage or cancel in your Apple ID subscription settings. During a founding period we may offer the plan free; the end date is shown in the app before any charge.
Apple purchases use Apple’s payment and refund procedures, alongside any rights you have against us under applicable law. You can request an Apple refund through reportaproblem.apple.com. Deleting DenKin does not itself cancel a subscription. A third-party provider or retailer’s clearly disclosed terms govern your separate purchase from them.
For any physical goods we sell directly, checkout must identify shipping costs, delivery restrictions and the return process before ordering. These terms do not make a placeholder storefront a live sale. If a digital product is faulty, not supplied or materially different from what was promised, contact us; mandatory rights to correction, price reduction, cancellation or refund are not excluded. There is no blanket all-sales-final rule.
When selecting multiple pets for registration, review the eligible pets and displayed total. Apple may require a separate confirmation for each pet; a partially completed batch is not an all-or-nothing transaction. Completed registrations remain completed while cancelled or pending ones remain separate. A pending Apple purchase is not a completed entitlement. Use the supported restore or reconciliation controls before buying again. TestFlight Sandbox purchases and TEST identifiers are test records and do not become production registrations or ownership documents.
15. Acceptable use
Do not use DenKin for fraud, harassment, threats, stalking, animal cruelty, unlawful discrimination, sexual exploitation, illegal trade or infringement of others’ rights. Do not publish private locations or personal information to intimidate someone, request unnecessary sensitive information, send spam or impersonate a person, shelter or provider.
Do not defeat access controls, scrape private member information, distribute malware, interfere with service availability or evade a lawful suspension. Security research and interoperability rights protected by law remain intact; report suspected vulnerabilities privately rather than exposing member information.
16. Reports moderation and appeals
Report unsafe or unlawful content through available reporting controls or denkinpets@gmail.com. Identify the listing or content, the reason for concern and information that helps us assess it. For immediate threats or animal emergencies, contact the appropriate authorities instead of waiting for an app response.
We may restrict visibility, remove content, limit contact or suspend an account when reasonably necessary to address a material violation, fraud, safety issue, legal requirement or service security. We consider the severity, available evidence and repeated behavior. Where practical and lawful, we will explain the reason and how to request review. We may act first where delay would create risk or compromise an investigation.
You may ask for review by replying to our notice or emailing us with relevant context. We will consider the request and correct an error we identify. We do not promise that every listing or message is reviewed before it appears. Nothing limits reporting to regulators or exercising statutory complaint rights.
17. Intellectual property and reports of infringement
DenKin software, original art, music, branding and game assets belong to us or our licensors. Subject to these terms and applicable storefront rules, you may use the service for its intended purposes. You may not redistribute or commercially exploit those assets without permission, except as allowed by law or an express license. Third-party marks remain their owners’ property.
To report infringement, email denkinpets@gmail.com with the work involved, the location of the disputed material, your contact information and the basis of your authority and claim. We may request information needed to investigate or follow an applicable notice process. This contact is not a claim that we have registered a statutory copyright agent or qualify for a particular safe harbor.
18. Apple and other external services
The App Store version’s software license is governed by Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement unless a separately approved custom license is identified in the store. These service terms supplement that license; they do not replace mandatory Apple usage rules. DenKin, rather than Apple, provides the DenKin service and handles support at the contact above.
Apple Find My, Apple Maps, sign-in providers, social platforms, payment services and external retailers have their own terms and privacy practices. A link or compatibility feature does not imply sponsorship. External accounts, permissions or subscriptions may be needed. Changes or outages in those services can affect the relevant DenKin feature, without limiting remedies for a paid promise we made.
19. Changes availability and ending use
You can stop using DenKin, withdraw optional listings and request account deletion through the app’s available controls or by contacting us. Deleting an account is separate from cancelling a storefront subscription or retracting a copy you sent elsewhere. Required legal records and limited backups may remain as described in the Privacy Notice.
We may maintain, improve, replace or discontinue features for legitimate technical, security, legal or business reasons. For material changes to an ongoing paid service, we will provide reasonable advance notice where practical, explain the effect on your entitlement and offer remedies required by law. We will not use a change to remove an existing paid promise without an appropriate remedy.
For a planned service closure, we will provide reasonable notice and an opportunity to retrieve supported data where practical. Immediate restrictions may be necessary for legal or security reasons. Terms that by their nature concern completed transactions, accrued rights, content already shared or disputes continue to apply after use ends.
20. Service standards and limits
We will provide the service with the care and skill required by applicable law. We cannot promise uninterrupted access, error-free AI, accurate third-party listings or a particular adoption, recovery, game or business outcome. To the extent legally permitted, we exclude additional implied warranties not required by law. This does not exclude statutory guarantees for digital services or products.
You should take reasonable precautions suited to your circumstances, including preserving important records and independently checking decisions affecting animal welfare. We remain responsible where the law makes us responsible; these terms do not transfer every risk to you.
21. Liability and claims
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, deliberate misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, breach of a mandatory consumer guarantee, or any other responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
For consumers, we are responsible for loss caused by our breach that was reasonably foreseeable when the agreement was made, subject to applicable law. We are not responsible for a loss caused solely by an independent third party where we have no legal responsibility for that loss. We do not exclude an entire category of pet-related harm merely because an animal is involved.
For users acting wholly in business or professional purposes, and only where law permits, our aggregate liability arising from the service during a twelve-month period is limited to the greater of US$500 or fees paid to us for the affected service during that period. That business-only limit does not apply to the non-excludable matters above. We do not impose a general consumer obligation to indemnify us for all third-party claims.
22. Consumer rights across territories
If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom or another territory with mandatory protections, those protections apply despite any choice of law in these terms. Rights may include conformity of digital services, remedies for defects and cancellation of qualifying distance contracts. We will give the legally required information before a covered purchase.
Where a withdrawal right applies, it is not lost simply by accepting these terms or installing DenKin. Any lawful early-supply request, express consent and acknowledgment required for digital content or services must be collected separately. Contact us or the relevant storefront for the process applicable to your purchase. You retain access to competent consumer authorities and courts.
Canadian provincial and federal consumer protections, including non-waivable rights in Quebec where applicable, and applicable United States state protections remain intact. Availability and supported features may differ by territory. We will provide any mandatory local purchase information before making a covered offer; this agreement does not waive applicable language, cancellation or other statutory rights.
23. Resolving disputes
Please contact us with the problem and the resolution you seek so we can try to resolve it. Informal contact is encouraged, not a condition that prevents you from making a timely legal claim, seeking urgent relief or contacting a regulator.
California law governs to the extent it does not displace mandatory protections of your place of residence. Courts with lawful jurisdiction may hear disputes; consumers retain any right to bring a claim in their home jurisdiction. For a dispute between businesses where no mandatory rule says otherwise, the parties submit to courts in Los Angeles County, California. These terms do not require private arbitration or waive class proceedings, jury trial or statutory remedies.
24. Updates and general provisions
We will identify the version and effective date of published terms. Material changes will be notified through the app or another suitable channel with reasonable advance notice, normally at least 30 days, unless a faster change is reasonably required for law or safety. Changes do not retroactively remove accrued rights. We will obtain renewed agreement when required and explain options if you do not accept a material change.
If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining terms continue where lawful without rewriting the agreement to remove mandatory protections. Failure to enforce a provision immediately is not a permanent waiver. A transfer of the service to a successor must not reduce your contractual or statutory rights. These terms and the specific purchase terms you accepted form the service agreement; misleading sales representations are not excused by this clause.
App Store software license: Apple Standard EULA.
